Benefits of and Reasons for Gym and Health Club Membership

whether or not the increase in health club and gym memberships is
due to society’s obsession with personal appearance or an
increased consciousness in the health benefits of physical
fitness. This paper supports the idea that it is the increased
awareness of health issues that has lead people to “join up.” Of
course, America is nation obsessed with appearances, however, it
is also a nation in which people understand that the increasingly
sedentary lifestyle of most Americans, at work and home is
contributing to numerous physical ailments as well as affecting
